William Fortner

Vice President- West Division

Bill Fortner has been associated with the financial services industry for the past 25 years. Prior to joining Lincoln Financial Advisors in 2013, he was affiliated with MetLife National Accounts as a Regional Sales Vice President, covering Southern California and Hawaii. His division acted as a Strategic Business Partner for successful financial advisors, providing life insurance-based wealth management solutions and the ability to coordinate their clients’ wealth and unmanaged assets.

Bill began his financial services career at Bank of America for seven years before moving to John Hancock where he was a successful financial advisor for the next two years. Bill was later with The Hartford for almost ten years, where he served as Director of Private Wealth Management. At The Hartford, Bill’s primary goal was to set up the bank channel as a new distribution market. Geographically, he recruited, trained and collaborated with advanced financial planning ‘dream teams’ to work seamlessly and effectively within each bank.

Bill is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he earned a BA in Communication Arts and Sciences. Bill has been named to the permanent faculty and is a Fellow in the Laureate program at the Southern California Institute, which offers California’s most complete business estate and wealth strategies curricula to help wealth advisors interact with clients to inspire action.

As an accomplished public speaker, Bill uses humor in his professional environment to keep his audience engaged in the message and he continues to be invited to address his former firms on a regular basis.

He has maintained his connection with De La Salle High School in Concord, CA and participates on the school’s Alumni Board of Directors. Bill is an avid endurance cyclist and completed The Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa in 2012, a seven day 468-mile ride, the largest and oldest ride of its kind in the world, benefitting several charities.
